To play mods you need to install a specific Dead By Daylight version and the private server.
The private server currently targets Dead By Daylight 6.5.2.
[ ] Open the Steam console (copy and paste the link in your browser).
[ ] Paste Download_depot 381210 381211 92402178206342675 into the Steam console and hit enter.

[ ] Wait until the download has finished, then navigate to the outputted folder.

The Eefernal Fog private server is still under development. Currently, access is restricted to a select group of individuals.
If you want to create advanced mods such as custom maps/blueprints, you will need Unreal Engine and a template.
When creating blueprint mods for DBD most things you will be doing are basic Unreal Engine tasks, so it is recommended to first have a basic understanding of how Unreal Engine works. Watch some Unreal Engine tutorials and create a simple (non-DBD) project before getting started with DBD modding. (or donβt, itβs up to you)
I would also recommend following this UE4 style guide to keep your projects organised.
The current Dead By Daylight version uses Unreal Engine 4.27.2.
[ ] Install the Epic Games Launcher and the specified Unreal Engine version.

[ ] Download the latest template project release from https://github.com/olshab/DeadByDaylight-PS-Template.
[ ] Extract the project, open DeadByDaylight.uproject.
